The Community Center is an Illinois not-for-profit organization that was incorporated in 1975 for the purpose of providing recreational, social and educational programs for the residents of River Forest and surrounding communities. The Community Center does not have any direct taxing authority and derives the majority of its operating budget from program user fees. Other sources of revenue include fundraising, grants, special events and donations. During the past year the Community Center has continued its partnerships and strengthened its relationships with a number of other local agencies and service providers including Oak Park River Forest High School (OPRFHS), Opportunity Knocks, River Forest Township, Oak Park/River Forest Township Youth Services (OPRFTYS) and West Cook YMCA. These cooperative efforts have proven to be extremely successful and have enabled each of the organizations to expand program opportunities for its participants.
